Academic Accommodations
Academic accommodations may be available to students including access to assistive technology and testing accommodations. Students should contact Disability Support Services (DSS) to discuss possible assistance during their recovery period. DSS can be reached at 252-737-1016.
Attendance
Whether or not the university is able to accommodate students for missed classes will depend largely on the nature of the course. Some courses have no attendance requirement, while others, such as labs and experiential classes have very strict policies. The university is unable to provide a blanket “university excused absence” during injury or illness. The student should first discuss their situation with their faculty member, any unresolved concerns should be addressed to the Dean of Students Office or 252-328-9297.
Serious Illness
Students should contact the Dean of Students Office (252-328-9297) for assistance with serious illnesses and conditions requiring surgery or hospitalization.
