Requesting Housing Accommodations
Requests for housing accommodations should be indicated on both the DSS request for accommodation form and the housing application. All requests should be received by no later than May, 1st for the upcoming academic year. Requests for a change to housing accommodations should be made through DSS.
How to Notify Your Faculty of Your Accommodations
Faculty notification letters are the responsibility of the student. The process for obtaining your letters is reviewed at your mandatory in-take meeting at DSS prior to receiving services. You are encouraged to request and deliver your letters early in the semester.
Taking a Test/Exam at the DSS Testing Center
Once you have registered with DSS and completed the mandatory intake meeting, you are approved to electronically access the Clockwork Web Portal on-line to schedule your Test/Exam at the DSS Testing Center. Your DSS professional will review the deadlines for submitting both regular and final exams.
Alternative Format of textbooks and other materials
Students approved for electronic textbooks should submit their request using the Electronic Text Request Form and then contact Brian Stanford with a scan/photo copy of your receipts/invoice as soon as you have purchased the hard copy of the text. Other materials, syllabi, handouts and presentations should be requested via the same address.
Students should request interpreting services by contacting Assistant Director Nancy Ausherman.

Emotional Support Animals (ESA’s) on Campus
ESA’s are not service animals as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008 and are not afforded the same access to campus as a service animal.
ESA’s must be approved by Disability Support Services to reside in University Residence Halls but are not permitted in other facilities including classrooms, dining halls, libraries and student centers.
Requests for ESA’s require documentation, signed and on letterhead from a licensed psychiatrist, therapist or mental health provider. The following information is required:
- Diagnosis and treatment history that indicates a continuing therapeutic relationship between the professional and the student.
- The severity of the impairment and its impact on the student’s ability to reside in a communal living environment.
- The provider’s confirmation that the ESA has been prescribed for treatment purposes and is necessary to alleviate symptoms associated with the person’s condition.
Documentation should be submitted to:
