Center for Counseling and Student Development
The Center for Counseling and Student Development invites all enrolled students to acquaint themselves with the services offered. All students are eligible for an initial assessment with one of the counselors. Center for Counseling and Student Development provides individual counseling within a brief, short-term therapeutic model, with most students benefiting from 4-5 sessions. Short-term counseling can be beneficial to students experiencing challenges in the following areas: Personal, Academic, Relationship, and Development.
Dean of Students
The Dean of Students staff serves as a liaison between students, parents, faculty, staff and administrators to assist with individual or group crisis, navigate campus procedures, and serve as an advocate for students when needed. The office is the primary resource for individuals who need assistance identifying the appropriate resources available. In an effort to meet the individual needs of our students, the Department for Disability Support Services, and the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities join with the Dean of Students to make available comprehensive student services and thematic programming that emphasizes personal, emotional and academic development. These departments work in partnership with the Office of the Dean of Students by responding pro-actively to crisis, safety, wellness and access matters. Collectively, we are committed to helping every member of our community succeed.
Pirate Academic Success Center
The professional and student staff members of the Pirate Academic Success Center are committed to the academic success of all ECU students. We believe that every Pirate can be successful with the right learning supports in place. The PASC offers academic success services including academic coaching, study skills support, and Freshmen learning communities. Course support services include tutoring by appointment, course specific study groups, and Canvas videos for high demand STEM courses. All services are free to ECU enrolled students. Student Health Services
Student Health Services is a primary health care facility with two locations conveniently on Main and Health Sciences campus, comprised of dedicated professionals providing easily accessible and affordable health care to enrolled students. Our facilities specialize in the overall health and well-being of each patient in our campus community by offering a comprehensive list of services.
ECU Download Center
Software, including Read&Write, can be requested and downloaded from the ECU Download Center.
Career Services
Career Services supports and empowers students in their career development to succeed as professionals in a global community. Career Services provides major and career planning, interview preparation, workshops, and much more.
Military & Veterans Resource Center
The Military & Veterans Resource Center will help connect Service-members/Veterans and their families to the appropriate services on campus by providing the following:
- Information and resources to ease the transition from military-life to campus-life
- Provide an in-depth and unique orientation only for student veterans.
- Mentoring through the PAVE program
- Connect students with the Pirate Veterans” Student Organization
- A veterans lounge to relax in, watch TV, eat lunch and to meet with other veterans
- COAD 1000 course specifically designed for veterans
PASS Clinic
The PASS Clinic is a non-profit psychology clinic associated with the ECU Doctoral Program in Health Psychology. The Clinic provides behavioral health services to ECU faculty and staff, as well as the surrounding community, while also providing supervised training for graduate student clinicians. Students can contact the PASS Clinic to inquire about psychoeducational evaluations.

Student Affairs provides programs and services that optimize student learning and leadership, builds a safe supportive and welcoming campus community, fosters the emotional growth and personal development of students, and makes a positive contribution to the overall student experience.
Center for Communication Excellence
At the Center for Communication Excellence, their goal is to help students become more confident, effective, and professional communicators. Presentations, sales pitches, conversations with professors and supervisors, social media presence, branding, interviews – they are there to help develop student’s professional communication skills and present their best selves.
University Writing Center
The University Writing Center is where all writers can share their work-in-progress and talk about their writing with consultants who are committed to cultivating learning experiences that not only offer support at all stages of the writing process, but also support the development of writing strategies that can be applied to future writing projects. Their services are not remedial; rather, they are additional resources for anyone who wishes to become a better writer.
